There are two notable additions to the footwear department at sixwhitingstreet.com in November.
There is nothing cooler when it comes to footwear, and trainers in particular, than retro trainers with a real essence of British Heritage. Walsh footwear was established in 1961 in Bolton by Norman Walsh, who had previous experience of manufacturing hand sewn running shoes for British Olympians. The brand is back with avengance and has kept its original styles making for trainer collectors heaven.

Shoefolk has teamed up with kidrobot to produce a one off, ultra limited edition shoe. A modification of the alaric ’smart trainer’ with grey suede upper, cobalt blue sole and colourful kidrobot branding on the back is a must have this winter… Especially considering how exclusive it is with only 100 available worldwide and 40 in the UK.

Sixwhitingstreet.com Blog 1
I would like to use this blog to firstly welcome you to sixwhitingstreet.com, a fresh and innovative approach to online shopping for men. The store itself in Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk has been open for just over a year and is already establishing itself as one of the finest in the country and boasts brands the likes of Hugo Boss, Paul Smith, Maison Martin Margiela and many more. This early success is largely due to owner Giles Henderson, who has moved from a career in buying to realise a dream of opening a store of his own.
sixwhitingstreet.com carries the same ethos as the store and strives to be the best through quality products, attention to detail and unrivalled customer service.
In this country, what we wear is increasingly determinant on the weather and although as I am currently wearing t-shirt, shorts and flip flops on a day set to reach 27 degrees, tomorrow’s forecast is much cooler with the prospect of rain! In terms of fashion this is not a disaster, it merely calls for a more versatile wardrobe! For those red hot summer days t-shirts from levis, Edun, Franklin and Marshall or one of ‘Brad Pitts favourite’ Penguin Polo’s, YMC shorts and Paul Smith flip flops or Hudson Sandals will keep you cool.
At evening barbeques and garden parties or on a cooler day colourful summer knitwear and lightweight jackets are pivotal, especially V-necks and cardigans, the latter having made a triumphant comeback over the past few seasons and shows no signs of disappearing again. Paul Smith, Margiela, Nigel Hall, Farhi, Rykiel Homme and Folk do such pieces fantastically!
For dressier occasions and evenings out, casual with a dash of formal is highly ‘on trend’… how much formal is dependent on the individual. Nudie or Levis straight dark denim with either shoes or plimsolls work well with a shirt, waistcoat and/or skinny tie….or even a silk scarf, both by trendy London based brand ‘Peckham Rye’. Finish the outfit off with a recognisable Toywatch, dubbed ‘Rolex Meets Swatch’, an exciting new brand that is going from strength to strength.
It is an exciting time for men’s fashion, and no longer content with playing second fiddle to the opposite sex, men are becoming more adventurous in what they wear. Over the coming months this blog serves to provide and insight into what is ‘on trend’ or ‘faux pas’.
