Edwin
Founded in Japan in 1947,
Edwin is still owned by the
same family and since 2003,
the European market has been
in the hands of the Swiss
based subsidiary, Edwin Europe
AG. The company started
producing jeans at the
beginning of the 1960s, just
as the rugged, denim workhorse
of the Wild West was becoming
a popular mass-market
consumable. Edwin became
famous for developing a new
washing process that created
the iconic ‘lived in’ look, as
well as a host of brand new
and exclusive fabrics that
revolutionised the fashion
industry.
In the 1970s the brand
built on its success by
developing the ‘old wash’ look
– hand-scraped denim produced
a worn out look that is still
popular today. As a result,
Edwin has a reputation for
producing high quality,
hardwearing clothes that are
comfortable, functional and
street-smart. Edwin has been
around for over 60 years and
is still at the top of its
game and this speaks volumes -
Edwin is justifiably renowned
for producing an urban style
that has achieved ‘classic’
status. |
