Folk founder, Cathal McAteer was granted the opportunity in 2001 to create the first Folk menswear collection and decided to turn his back on the trends and fashions of the high street and crafted a collection that his friends would like to wear. He ended up with a collection that was independent, quirky and fun and Folk burst into life. Combining an eye for the unusual with detailing such as pointelle, textured tweed stitching and corozo nut buttons and you have a definitive collection of menswear that’s utterly different and unique. This brand doesn’t follow trends – it sets its own agenda. The devil is in the detail. Folk jackets do not feature a signature logo, they add touches such as squared elbow patches and swatches of contrasting fabric on side hems making the clothing quintessentially Folk. Much of the creative process is involved in fabric selection, incorporating innovative materials such as Japanese double face cotton shirting and carbon finished jersey wear. This makes Folk clothing rugged and tough but infinitely wearable. Folk jackets, Folk chinos and Folk shirts are key pieces within the brand’s collection.
